Who We Are

"Mainstream Alabama Baptists" is an organization of individuals from many different Baptist churches across the entire state of Alabama. Our organization took the name "Mainstream" because a review of four hundred years of Baptist history demonstrates that we advocate principles which have identified almost all Baptists, and all organizations of Baptists up to the current generation. Likewise, a review of the past two hundred years of Baptist life in the United States reveals a willingness by many Baptists to cooperate in evangelism and missions in spite of differences, a cooperation in the midst of diversity we advocate. We consider ourselves neither "moderate" nor "conservative" but traditional, in that our focus is on preserving these traditional Baptist principles and continuing the tradition of cooperation in evangelism and missions, in obedience to our Lord’s Great Commission.

Mainstream Alabama Baptists is a not for profit corporation with offices in Huntsville and Birmingham, supported by charitable gifts from individuals. MAB is completely independent of any other group or missions organization, but is in friendly cooperation with a wide range of Baptists from many different groups. The Alabama organization participates in the Mainstream Baptist Network, composed of similar organizations in other states, and shares some of the Network’s goals, but retains its independence and its own agenda.
